Job Description:

We are currently seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our coaching staff as an Assistant Coach. In this role, you will work closely with the Head Coach and other members of the coaching team to help prepare and lead the Hurricanes DHL Super Rugby Team to success. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of elite rugby players and play a key role in shaping the future of the Hurricanes franchise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and implementing training sessions, strategies, and game plans to maximize the performance of the Hurricanes players.
  • Provide technical and tactical coaching expertise to players in specific areas of the game, focusing on individual skill development, team tactics, and game understanding.
  • Analyze game footage and performance data to identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement, and develop strategies to address them.
  • Collaborate with other members of the coaching staff, including strength and conditioning coaches, medical staff, and analysts, to ensure a holistic approach to player development and performance optimization.
  • Build positive relationships with players, providing mentorship, support, and guidance both on and off the field.
  • Act as a role model for the Hurricanes players, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to excellence in all aspects of coaching and team management.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a rugby coach at the professional or elite level, with a thorough understanding of the game of rugby and the demands of Super Rugby competition.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with players and build rapport in a high-performance environment.
  • Sound knowledge of coaching principles, techniques, and methodologies, with a commitment to ongoing learning and development.
  • Relevant coaching qualifications and certifications, such as World Rugby coaching accreditation or equivalent, preferred.
  • Experience working with elite athletes and a track record of success in player development and performance improvement.
  • A passion for rugby and a desire to contribute to the success of the Hurricanes DHL Super Rugby Team.
