Overview:

BBC Luton is seeking an experienced Journalist to join our local news team. This role involves covering a wide range of topics, including community news, local politics, and cultural events. The successful candidate will play a key role in creating compelling content that resonates with audiences across our digital, radio, and television platforms.

Responsibilities:

• Produce, report, and edit news stories for broadcast and online platforms, ensuring all content is engaging, accurate, and timely.
• Develop content that reflects the diverse community of Luton, identifying stories that resonate and inform.
• Build and maintain a network of contacts to enhance news gathering efforts and ensure a flow of news.
• Work collaboratively with other journalists and production staff to brainstorm story ideas and innovative content strategies.
• Participate in live broadcasts as needed and contribute to special reports.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in journalism, with a strong portfolio of stories.
• Excellent writing and communication skills, capable of delivering clear and accurate reports under tight deadlines.
• Knowledge of Luton’s local issues and a keen interest in community journalism.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• A degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
