Job Description:

NHS Hull is seeking a dedicated Nutrition Assistant to join our healthcare team. This role is crucial in supporting the delivery of nutritional care and dietary services to patients across our facilities. The Nutrition Assistant will work under the guidance of registered dietitians and nutritionists to help implement dietary plans and ensure that all patient nutritional needs are met efficiently and compassionately.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist dietitians and nutritionists in the preparation and delivery of meal plans and dietary interventions.
  • Help assess patient nutritional needs and monitor their dietary intake and progress.
  • Educate patients and their families on healthy eating habits and dietary modifications.
  • Assist in the management of food service operations, ensuring meals are prepared and served according to dietary requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient diets, preferences, and allergic reactions.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure meals are prepared in accordance with dietary restrictions.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of nutritional care policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care, Food and Nutrition, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferable.
  • Knowledge of basic nutrition and dietary needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach.
  • Basic computer skills for maintaining records and inputting dietary data.
